Install and open
Double-click the installer. Terpside opens in a separate window designed for your second monitor.
Choose what to listen to
In the source selector, choose the app playing the call (apps currently playing audio are marked) or your audio device.
Interpret as usual
Bubbles appear when each person finishes speaking. The first time you open Terpside you will see “Preparing this computer…”: it checks what it can use for recognition (the processor or the graphics card) and prepares the graphics card, which can take a couple of minutes. Wait for it to finish before starting a call; later starts are much faster.
Hear about new versions and offers
Leave your email and we will write when a new version is out or there is an offer, like the founder price. Only for that, a few times a month at most, and you can unsubscribe by replying “unsubscribe”.

What's new in this version
- The latest turn always stays in view, even when its translation arrives a moment later.
- A single turn of the mouse wheel no longer takes you out of the conversation; if you scroll up to reread, Terpside goes back to following it after 12 seconds without touching it.
- More faithful numbers: Spanish “cuarto” no longer turns into “4th”, and “unos”/“unas” are no longer read as “one”.
- New speech recognition, faster and more accurate: on medical sentences over the phone it gets more than 93% of words right.
- Tested on real calls: it captures more of the conversation than the previous version and hardly falls behind, even on modest computers.
- Works without a graphics card: it uses a single processor core.
- Numbers, dates and phone numbers in digits: “March 25th 1985”, “555, 123, 4567”.
- Personal glossary: add your own terms with their translation; the program flags them and recognizes them better.
- Each sentence shows up as soon as it is recognized, and the translation follows right after instead of holding it back.
- Optional: text while speaking, in a provisional bubble that corrects itself (⚙ → Performance → “Text while speaking”).
- Lighter installer.
- If you already have Terpside, install the new version over it: your settings, license and glossary are kept. From this version on, the program tells you when a new one is out.
How to start the Pro trial (1 minute)
Terpside starts on Free, with 60 minutes a day. The Pro trial gives you up to 2 hours a day for 5 days, no account, no card and no email. Here is how:

Open the license in Terpside
In Terpside's top bar, click “Free · activate Pro”. Settings open at the License section.

Request the trial
Click “Request a Pro trial”. This website opens in your browser with your computer's code already filled in: just click “Get the voucher”.

Copy the voucher
Click “Copy the voucher”. It is one long line; the button copies all of it. There is one voucher per computer: if you request it again, you get the same one.

Paste it and click “Activate”
Go back to Terpside, paste the voucher into “License key” and click “Activate”. Done: the bar shows the Pro minutes left today, which reset at midnight. The 5 days count from when you request the voucher; when it ends, Terpside stays on Free.

Speech recognition and translation use the processor. Performance depends on your computer.

About the load on your computer
If recognition falls more than a few seconds behind, Terpside drops the oldest audio to catch up with the present, and you will see it as a gap in the history. This may be caused by CPU or GPU load (for example, from a game or virtual machine), audio capture or the computer itself.
The thresholds Terpside uses to decide how much of your computer to spend were measured on a desktop (a Ryzen 5 3600 with 32 GB and an RTX 2060) and checked on two laptops (a Ryzen 5 3500U and a 3rd-generation Intel); that is not a campaign across a range of computers. That is why it does not ask you: at startup it measures your computer, picks the gear by itself and, if the result is tight, tells you in the bar instead of running slowly in silence. You can fix the gear by hand in Settings → Performance.
On a Mac? Terpside works in Chrome
If your call platform runs in the browser, the Chrome extension does what the Windows program does: it listens to the call tab and recognizes and translates on your computer, in Chrome's side panel. Free: 60 minutes a day, with the same Pro license.
Requires Chrome 137 or later. It only hears Chrome tabs: if your call runs in an installed program, it cannot hear it. We have measured it on Windows but not yet on a real Mac: if you try it there, tell us how it goes.
Is your platform an installed program?
That needs a desktop Terpside for Mac, which does not exist yet. Leave your email and we will let you know when it is out. We will use it for nothing else.
