How it works
Three steps, in this order, on your computer.

Listen to the output
Terpside captures only what plays through your headphones from the app you choose (Chrome, Zoom, whatever your platform uses). The microphone is not opened; there is no setting to open it.

Wait for the speaker to finish
Instead of captions that rewrite themselves while people talk, Terpside closes each turn when the person stops and only then transcribes it. If the person keeps dictating (a phone number dictated in three parts), the same bubble is completed; very long turns are split at 15 seconds.

Use the language to label the speaker and translate
English → provider (blue), Spanish → patient (green). The original appears in large type, with a smaller translation below. The medical glossary flags false friends and never rewrites the text.

What it does

Turn-by-turn bubbles, no flickering
Each turn is transcribed when it ends and appears at once; it is only extended if the person keeps dictating. You can scroll back through the whole call.

Speaker labels based on language
No diarization or voice identification: the detected language determines the speaker label. Blue is the provider, green is the patient; uncertainty is marked with a ?.

Local translation with the actual processing time
Opus-MT translates each bubble on your PC, and the label shows how long it really took ("local · 180 ms"). There is no cloud button: the public edition does not include that route.

A glossary that flags terms without changing them
Interpreting terms and potential false friends (such as constipado and constipated) appear as notes beside the bubble. The text stays as it is.

Capture audio from one app
Choose Chrome, Zoom, or your platform’s app instead of the entire audio output, so a WhatsApp notification does not get transcribed.

Critical Data Guard
ProDoses, frequencies, dates, times, phone numbers and amounts it has just recognized stay pinned for about 30 seconds in a separate strip. It pins what the recognizer understood; it does not validate the audio. It saves you from holding it in memory; it does not replace your ears.
What you can verify
Terpside has no account, no internet connection and no save button. The transcript lives in the program's memory while it is open and is discarded when you close it. The edition that is sold does not include the routes to export text or to send sentences to an external translator; an automated test checks in every release that those routes do not exist.
The program talks to itself over a local port on your computer (that is how the window is drawn); it opens no outbound connections. The license is verified with a signature inside the program. The only things written to disk are your settings, the license and a technical log with no sentences from calls.

I use it every day
I am a Spanish ↔ English medical interpreter. I work from Bolivia, over the phone and by video, for clinics and hospitals in the United States through over-the-phone interpreting agencies: appointments, results, discharge instructions, pharmacy calls. Conversations where a misheard number matters.
For a long time my second monitor was a stack of three tools that were not built for this and got in each other's way. In July 2026 I built what I wanted to have, and since then I open it when the shift starts and close it when it ends; what it heard goes with it. Terpside is an interpreter's tool, shared with other interpreters.

Numbers from my own computer (Ryzen 5 3600, 32 GB, GPU) and my own calls, July to September 2026. They are my numbers, not a guarantee for your machine; the public installer is measured before it is published. The audit of archived turns used a separate tool, authorized on my own computer; the edition that is sold stores nothing.
Frequently asked questions
Does it listen to my microphone?
It does not open the microphone: it captures only the selected audio output, what plays in your headphones. If that output includes an echo of your voice, it can capture that too.
Does it save the call anywhere?
No. The history is in the program's memory and is discarded when you close it. The edition that is sold includes no function to export or send text off your computer.
Does it need internet access?
No. The speech recognition and translation models are included in the installation, and the license is checked offline. You can use it with the network cable unplugged.
Can I use it with my agency?
Terpside is a visual aid that runs on your computer and does not record or save anything. Still, each agency has its own policy on captioning and note-taking tools. Check yours first.
What happens when the trial ends?
Terpside switches to the Free plan: everything except Critical Data Guard, with 60 minutes of use a day that reset at midnight, using your computer's local time. The session history stays in memory until you close the app. Pro removes the limit.
